Rebellious Streak

Roxane,

I lost a few notes after installing Gallery, and updating a few things on a set of small drives in the new server. I then swapped out the small drives for larger ones in a RAID array, and moved to a new FreeBSD OS install. I need to rebuild Gallery, so hang in there – I do have some more new photos to load up here. There are too few hours in the day. Roxane is just lovely, she has a little rebellious streak some days, and I cannot imagine where she got it from 😉 Time to sleep – it is late.

Words

Roxane,

Busy – busy! I have not had much time to write, here, but life is good! Roxane will be talking soon – she already has a good grasp of “bye, bye,” “no,” “mama,” “papa,” and mumbles a lot to us – she will repeat things, like we are supposed to understand. Mom and Dad were here last weekend, and Dave and Mel came down to eat dinner Friday night, then stay up late chatting, and waiting for Roxane to go to sleep… Here she comes, running into the office! I have spent a good bit of spare time installing a new server, and compiling PHP, netpbm and all the libraries needed for image manipulation, to run Gallery. I will get some time to update the text, sometime, unless there are any creative volunteers 😉 Let me know if you want a login, so you can upload images to the server, or if you want to help update the album and image tags. This is currently on DynDNS, so go to http://www.pbandjelly.org/gallery/ (now on this server) to see the gallery. Again, please let me know if you want a login to post to your own albums – the more the merrier!

First Steps!

Roxane,

Thanksgiving was wonderful! Grandma Linda and Grandpa Ben flew in for a long weekend, and Uncle Dave drove down from Austin for a visit. We all went to Grandma Mary Kate and Grandpa Sam’s house for Thanksgiving dinner, and everyone was amazed at how much food you ate – you fit right in with the rest of us. We had a grand feast! We took you to the McNay Art Museum on Friday morning and had a wonderful time – highly recomended museum to anyone that has not been. The estate and grounds are beautiful, and the collection is extensive. After the museum we all went back to Mary Kate and Sam’s house for leftovers (yum!), then spent the evening on the Riverwalk watching the holiday parade – great fun! On Saturday, we hung around the house and Dad and I built closet shelves in our bedroom. In the afternoon, on November 30, in front of Mom and Michelle – YOU WALKED YOUR FIRST STEPS!!! Yahoo! and Oh, no… hehehe! 10 and a half months and starting to walk. Dad snapped a few photos of you walking and we all watched and cheered as you kept taking a few steps back and forth between us all. It was a great weekend with family – this is what Thanksgiving is all about.

Crawling, now!

Roxane,

Oh, my goodness, how long it has been since I have updated this… A week ago you started crawling and you are a champion, doing laps up and down the hall! Michelle and I have moved us all to San Antonio, Texas, to be close to all of your family members that live here. You have aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents that all love to spend time with you. You started “school” and seem to love it! Miss Connie and the other teachers at Laurel Heights think you are the cutest baby, and they are right! I have so many things to catch everyone up with… You are starting to eat real food, love rice and beans, asparagus, peas, carrots, squash, and sweet potatoes. Tofu was a big hit, too, but we have only given you a bit to start out, and keep an eye on your earlier soy problem. You are so cute when you – c’mon everyone try it together – put your fingers on your lips, and run ’em up and down, and BbBbBbBbBbBb… HeHee! You have been to the beach in Port Aransas, we visited several hot springs in Colorado before leaving, played in the mountains… I miss it, but San Antonio is a beautiful city, and we are having fun. We are about to buy a great house, in an awesome neighborhood, and can’t wait to settle into life, here. Work is fun – I am a UNIX Sys Admin at Rackspace – a very fun, and growing company. Michelle is working as a councelor for a private practice, and is getting busy with new clients. I am rambling, and need to go home to see you! So many pictures to load here… about 6 CD’s I think. I love you!

Dinner Alone

Roxane,

I put another roll of photos up, and these are some of the best we have, so far – especially the ones of you grinning! Marc and Kjirsten had a great time babysitting you, last night, and Michelle and I went out for dinner, alone, for the first time since you arrived. We missed you! Most of the conversation was, “Roxane did…, today, …and isn’t it cute when she…!” We had a nice time, but we missed ‘little choo-choo’ (not sure where that one came from). You can sit anytime, Marc and Kjirsten – you looked right at home! Michelle has started running a few days a week (slowly), and has been feeling really good. The three of us have been to the Rec Center a few times in the last week, and Roxane has fun splashing and being held near the hottub – the socializing, exercise, and warmth seem to make her sleep really sound those nights. (Yes! Baby sleep trick #1 has been found!) Not much else is new – can’t wait to see everyone in San Antonio over Easter weekend!
